The Pearl of Great Price

Information

THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE is one man’s journey into the darkness of his very being, through memories, fears and thoughts he has locked away for years, as he searches for his real self amongst the meaningless of everyday existence. This epic performance touches upon themes common to us all, both men and women, from fears about beauty and sexuality to the desire to be happy and being loved. No one is left untouched as we delve into experiences, taboos and dreams most of us keep hidden. Disgusting in parts, touching in others. Expect nervous laughter, gasps of disbelief and an opportunity to reflect again about what is truly important in your life. If Freud was a comedian, this is the type of shit he’d probably have sprayed all over his audience. Not for the easily offended. Over eighteens only.

Audience comments

"The Pearl is a light which makes the darkness visible, like a lightening flash which shatters the foundation of our temples of knowledge."

"The Pearl reminds me of a modern-day version of The Aristocrats joke, which delves into the dirty-dirty, hidden shadows of life we all keep locked away. As much philosophy as comedy, this show has the potential to be as legendary as The Aristocrats, but in its own twisted, distorted way."

"The Pearl of Great Price is a trip through the sewer of the mind in a glass-bottomed boat: hilarious and disgusting by turns, but horrifyingly compelling and eventually uplifting."
